BRISTOL, Tenn. — High Limit Racing sprint car driver Corey Day made his NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series debut Thursday at Bristol Motor Speedway.
Day did double duty on the night, starting his evening in the ARCA Menards Series race, finishing seventh for Pinnacle Motorsports. Day then climbed aboard the No. 81 McAnally-Hilgemann Racing Chevrolet and drove to an 18th-place finish, completing all 200 laps of the .533-mile concrete track.
Day started 22nd, fought a loose Truck early in the race and was nabbed for a pit-lane speedy penalty during his second pit stop.
Day moved forward during the closing stages of the race and finished 18th.
“Overall, I’m happy with how tonight went,” said Day, who has won 10 winged sprint car races this season, driving the No. 14 Jason Meyers Racing machine. “We completed all the laps and that was my goal. I was too loose the first run, we got things better the second run and then really dialed in the last run. We got that pit road penalty and honestly, I’m kind of glad we did because it gave me a chance to learn to work through traffic.
“I can’t thank the group at McAnally-Hilgemann Racing enough and HendrickCars.com for the support.”
Day, who will make three more Truck Series starts this season, is off to his day job on Friday, competing in the High Limit Racing portion of the 4-Crown Nationals at Ohio’s Eldora Speedway.
