Brown Targeting ‘Fun’ Knoxville Truck Performance

KNOXVILLE, Iowa — When the green flag waves on Friday night’s Corn Belt 150 NASCAR Camping World Truck Series race at Knoxville Raceway, Brian Brown will be the only driver in the field who has won at the half-mile dirt track this season.

Brown will make his Truck Series debut aboard the No. 51 Toyota fielded by Kyle Busch Motorsports with sponsorship from Casey’s General Stores, Rowdy Energy, Whisps Snacks and FVP.

Brown is a five-time Knoxville Raceway sprint car champion with 53 career victories at the legendary track, including two this season.

It will be Brown’s second stock-car type race of the season at Knoxville, as he also competed in the Camping World Superstar Racing Experience race there in mid-June, finishing eighth.

“It’s a good opportunity for me at my best track in front of local fans. I’m looking forward to having fun,” said Brown, who will challenge the Truck Series regulars and a group of dirt-track invaders that includes 10-time Knoxville Nationals winner Donny Schatz. “It’s a different opportunity and a unique opportunity of something I’ll probably never get to do again in my life.”

Brown hopes to run all the laps and be in the hunt at the end of the race.

“I want to run all the laps. If you do that you have a way better opportunity,” Brown continued. “I’m driving I feel the best truck in the field. It’s cool that Casey’s, Rowdy, Whisps and FVP are helping me run a truck at Knoxville.”

Brown will return to his sprint car on Saturday night at Knoxville, but he recognizes the importance of the first NASCAR race at his home track.

“Saturday it’s back to my winged sprint car with the USAC Series coming in,” Brown said. “It’s a really cool weekend for Knoxville in general. It’s an awesome weekend for the fans to get to see NASCAR on Friday as well as winged and non-wing racing on Saturday.”

Brown’s weekend begins with Truck Series practice on Thursday night prior to Friday’s Corn Belt 150 presented by Premier Chevy Dealers. The USAC AMSOIL Sprint Car Series and Knoxville 410 sprint cars will be in action on Saturday night for the BRANDT Professional Agriculture Corn Belt Clash.
