Brett Bodine

Many say Brett Bodine wasn’t supposed to win the 1990 First Union 400 at North Wilkesboro (N.C.) Speedway. Confusion and a timely caution proved to be the gift Bodine and team owner Kenny Bernstein needed that April Sunday.

Bodine had already made his pit stop when a caution flag waved for a crash involving Kenny Wallace on lap 321. Amid the confusion, NASCAR decided Bodine was the race leader despite protests from other teams. Bodine led the remainder of the race to earn his only NASCAR Cup Series victory.
