NASCAR Adds Air Ducts To Cars At Three Tracks

DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. – NASCAR has tweaked the rules package that will be used at three tracks in Monster Energy NASCAR Cup Series competition later this year.

In a rulebook update released Wednesday, air ducts will be now be utilized at Homestead-Miami Speedway during the season finale on Nov. 17, Darlington (S.C.) Raceway during the Southern 500 and the two events at Pennsylvania’s Pocono Raceway.

The air ducts, used to increase air displacement in the hopes of increasing drafting, were in place for most 1.5 and 2-mile tracks on the schedule this season. However, Homestead, Darlington and Pocono were not originally on that list.

With the air ducts in place, drivers will likely not have to get off the gas as much in the corners because their speed entering the corners won’t be as high.
