NASCAR Hands Down Multiple Lug Nut Penalties

DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. – Three Monster Energy NASCAR Cup Series crew chiefs have been hit with $10,000 fines for lug nut violations after Saturday’s race at Bristol Motor Speedway.

The No. 2 of Brad Keselowski, the No. 9 of Chase Elliott and No. 14 of Clint Bowyer were all found to have loose lug nuts following Saturday’s race. As a result, crew chiefs Paul Wolfe (Keselowski), Alan Gustafson (Elliott) and Michael Bugarewicz (Bowyer) were all fined $10,000.

Keselowski finished third, Elliott finished fifth and Bowyer finished seventh in Saturday’s race.

In the NASCAR Xfinity Series, officials also confirmed a points penalty against Friday’s Bristol Motor Speedway race winner Tyler Reddick. Reddick’s No. 2 Chevrolet failed pre-race inspection four times, leading to the loss of 10 owner and driver points.

Finally, as confirmed by Rick Ware Racing last week, driver Bayley Currey has been suspended indefinitely for violating NASCAR’s substance abuse policy.
