MONROE, N.C. – Jay Robinson Racing will have a new sponsor when its cars return to the track next week.
CHARACTER COUNTS!, a character-building initiative of the Josephson Institute, will be the primary partner of the No. 66 Toyota driven by Brett Moffitt in next week’s NASCAR Sprint Cup Series race at Indianapolis Motor Speedway.
CHARACTER COUNTS! is an community-based and educational program that reaches more than seven million kids nationwide each year. Founded in 1992, the non-profit organization is utilized in schools across America to teach ethics and values by using the six pillars of character: trustworthiness, respect, responsibility, fairness, caring and citizenship.
Scott Raecker, Chairman and CEO of the Josephson Institute said, “We are proud to partner with Brett Moffitt and Jay Robinson Racing. Brett grew up in Iowa schools that focused on the Six Pillars of Character and Brett lives those values in his daily life. Through Brett and NASCAR we believe there is a great opportunity to make even more people aware of the life changing impact of CHAREACTER COUNTS!”
Sunday will mark Moffitt’s third career NASCAR Sprint Cup Series start and his first race at Indianapolis Motor Speedway. Moffitt,
21, of Grimes, Iowa, made his first career Sprint Cup start with Jay Robinson Racing at Dover International Speedway in May, finishing 22nd. He also competed for Michael Waltrip Racing in June, posting a 34th-place finish at Michigan International Speedway.
“I’m proud to bring a new sponsor into NASCAR, but also to promote an educational program that is changing kids’ lives,” said Moffitt.
“It wasn’t that long ago that I was sitting in a classroom and I know how important life lessons are. CHARACTER COUNTS! goes beyond the textbook. Through this program we’re going to reach even more educators and more students.
Michael Waltrip Racing announced last month that they had signed Moffitt to a multi-year driver contract. He’s a nine-time winner in K&N Pro Series East competition and serves as a test driver for Toyota Racing Development (TRD) and MWR.
