TALLADEGA, Ala. – Ty Dillon will start from the pole for Saturday’s NASCAR Camping World Truck Series Fred’s 250 at Talladega Superspeedway.
Dillon put the No. 3 Richard Childress Racing Chevrolet on the pole during qualifying Friday afternoon was a fast lap of 54.013 seconds at 177.291 mph. Jason White qualified second in the No. 23 Ford.
“This is for the guys. They built this truck, this is all them,” Dillon said after winning his third pole of the season. “I just steered the rocket. So I’m happy for these guys.”
Dillon enters Saturday’s event leading the series standings by a single point over James Buescher, who qualified third.
“Anytime you come to Talladega you can’t really ride around. You never know what’s going to happen with these trucks. It’s the toughest racing there is,” Dillon said after winning his third pole of the year. “We’re going to go for everything we’ve got. Hopefully we’ll stay out front with this Bass Pro Shops Chevy.”
Aric Almiroal qualified fourth in the No. 5 Wauters Motorsports Ford. Cale Gale, Kurt Busch, Todd Bodine, Timothy Peters, Parker Kligerman and Ron Hornaday, Jr. completed the top 10.
Wes Burton was the only driver who failed to qualify for Saturday’s race.
