MOORESVILLE, N.C. – Officials from David Gilliland Racing confirmed Thursday morning that driver Taylor Gray was involved in a single-car accident Wednesday night in Statesville, N.C.
Gray was transported to a local hospital where he remains in stable condition. No other details regarding the situation were available as of press time.
“The Gray family appreciates your thoughts and prayers and asks that you respect their privacy at this time,” a team statement read.
The Artesia, N.M., native turned 16 on March 25 and has competed in 22 races for David Gilliland Racing across the ARCA Menards Series, ARCA Menards Series East and ARCA Menards Series West since debuting for the team in June of last year.
He finished eighth in ARCA East points last season despite missing the first race of the year due to age restrictions, and is currently ranked second in the ARCA East standings.
Gray, who currently drives in the ARCA Menards Series, is scheduled to make his first NASCAR Camping World Truck Series start at Richmond (Va.) Raceway on April 17.
Gray’s status for that event will be determined at a later point.
