Sammy Smith Wins ARCA Bristol Race

Sammy Smith won Thursday night’s ARCA Menards Series race at Bristol Motor Speedway, coming out on top in a two-lap shootout end the race.

Smith held off Brandon Jones in the sprint, capping off a 200-lap race where he led all but the first 11 circuits around the half-mile track. Those laps were led by Jones.

It is Smith’s fourth main ARCA win of the season and his fifth ARCA East win.

Over the course of the race Smith also clinched the ARCA East title for the second year in a row, as well as the Sioux Chief Showdown title.

“That was a tough restart there and glad we were able to pull it off,” Smith told FS1. “The two championships mean a lot, but it wouldn’t be the same if didn’t win the race.”

The top five was completed by Taylor Gray, Rajah Caruth and Daniel Dye.

The sprint to the checkered flag was set up by a single-car wreck with nine laps to go involving Ashton Higgins as he exited Turn 2.
