STATESVILLE, N.C. — Bill McAnally Racing announced the signing of 20-year-old Eric Johnson Jr. as the driver of the No. 19 Chevrolet SS for the 2024 ARCA Menards Series West season.
BMR is expanding to two full-time entries for the first time since 2022 as Johnson Jr. joins Jack Wood on the 11-time ARCA West championship-winning team. In 2023, Johnson Jr. showcased his talent behind the wheel by participating in four races, securing two top-10 finishes (Portland Int’l Speedway and All American Speedway) in the very car he’ll pilot for the upcoming season.
Since starting his career in 2019 at South Sound Speedway (SSS), Johnson Jr. has made an impressive name for himself.
In 2021, he shined in baby grand stock car racing with six wins. In 2022, Johnson Jr. excelled in late model racing securing six top-five finishes in eight races around the Northwest.
Johnson Jr. is looking to use that short track experience in his first AMSW rookie season.
“To be part of such a prestigious team is truly a dream come true for me,” Johnson Jr. said. “Last year was an unforgettable experience filed with new challenges, and now I have a team I feel confident in. I still have so much to learn, but getting my feet wet in the series in 2023 was a great step in the right direction.
“I’m excited to work alongside Jack (Wood) and learn as much as I can from him and the BMR team.”
“We’re very excited to bring Eric (Johnson Jr.) back for a second season in the AMSW,” team owner Bill McAnally said. “In his four races, Eric (Johnson Jr.) showed us a lot potential and how quickly he can adjust to the car. Having Jack (Wood) and Eric (Johnson Jr.) next season will give us a great chance for another championship.”
