MOORESVILLE, N.C. — Aric Almirola will drive the No. 51 Vision Airlines/Emerald Coast Resorts Toyota for Vision Aviation Racing during the NASCAR Camping World Truck Series opener at Daytona Int’l Speedway Feb. 18.
Almirola will be climbing behind the wheel of the same equipment that propelled him to two victories and a second-place points finish in the 2010 NASCAR Camping World Truck Series standings when Billy Ballew owned the team.
“We are extremely happy to have Aric back in the 51 for our Daytona efforts,” said Tom Davis, general manager for the team. “He has proven himself to be a top contender in the Truck Series and we look forward to a very successful weekend.”
“I’m really excited to have the opportunity, thanks to Vision Aviation Racing, to race the 51 truck at Daytona,” said Almirola, who will compete in the NASCAR Nationwide Series with JR Motorsports fulltime this season. “When I was asked to drive the 51 at Daytona, I jumped on the opportunity. It only helps me with more track time, since I’ll race both the Truck and Nationwide Series at Daytona. And who would pass up the opportunity to run the Truck Series race, especially if they feel they have the chance to win?”
Billy Ballew Motorsports, which scored 19 victories in the NASCAR Camping World Truck Series since 2004, merged with Vision Aviation Racing during the off-season.
