MELBOURNE, Australia — Marc Marquez earned his third MotoGP victory of the season after a phenomenal ride aboard his Gresini Racing machine during the Australian Motorcycle Grand Prix at Phillip Island.
Marquez, the eight-time world champion, dug deep during a battle with Pramac Racing’s Jorge Martin during the closing laps, to secure the victory.
Martin finished second and extended his championship lead to 20 points after defeating title rival Francesco Bagnaia (Ducati Lenovo Team).
The Italian crossed the line in third, unable to match the pace of the leaders and bringing home a further 16 points.
Securing a late fourth was the fighting fit Fabio Di Giannantonio (Pertamina Enduro VR46 Racing Team), who bravely battled with Enea Bastianini, who finished fifth.
