After starting deep in the field in 13th, Francesco Bagnaia launched his way to the point in Sunday’s Indonesian Grand Prix.
Bagnaia lost his points lead at the conclusion of Saturday’s sprint race when title rival Jorge Martin scored the win. Though the tide changed on Sunday, however, as Martin wrecked out of the lead on lap 13 of the 27-lap race.
Maverick Vinales took over the point, but only for a short time as Bagnaia swiped the lead away shortly after inheriting the lead. Vinales took second as Fabio Quartararo topped off the podium in third.Â
A Bagnaia victory puts the Ducati rider 18 points clear of Martin as the series heads to the Australian Grand Prix next week.Â
