Defending MotoGP champion Francesco Bagnia cut into points leader Jorge Martin’s gap after dominating Sunday’s Japanese Grand Prix.
Bagnaia led from the green to the checkered flag as Martin rose from 11th on the grid to the runner-up position.
Marc Marquez and Enea Bastianini followed suit with Franco Morbidelli completing the top-five finishers. Trackhouse Racing’s Raul Fernandez placed 15th while teammate Lorenzo Savadori failed to finish the race.
Polesitter Pedro Acosta had a forgettable weekend after crashing out in both the sprint race on Saturday and on Sunday.
With four races remaining in the season, Martin holds a 10-point lead over Bagnaia.
