MUGELLO, Italy — Ducati Lenovo Team rider Francesco Bagnaia backed up his Saturday performance with a dominant ride to victory in Sunday’s Italian Grand Prix at Mugello.
Bagnaia scored the maximum points available (37) on the MotoGP weekend.
Bagnaia charged from fifth to first by turn two, while Jorge Martin (Prima Pramac Racing) spent the race trying to match Bagnaia’s pace before a last-lap move by Enea Bastianini (Ducati Lenovo Team) demoted the Spaniard to third and gave Ducati a sweep of the top two spots.
Martin came home third and his championship lead was trimmed to 18 points.
Marc Marquez was fourth for Gresini, finishing ahead of rookie Pedro Acosta, who came home fifth for Red Bull.
