Ahead of the opening round of the SuperMotocross World Championship, Cooper Webb has announced his return to the Monster Energy Yamaha Star Racing team.
The North Carolina native split from Red Bull KTM, his team of five years, over the summer. His new contract with Star Racing Yamaha will see him riding blue through 2024 and beyond, as well as during the upcoming SMX playoff rounds.
“Reuniting with Cooper Webb signals not just a homecoming but also a bright horizon for the team. We’re all pretty excited to get going and to see the legacy he will build in this new chapter with his home team,” said team manager Jeremy Coker.
In 2013, Webb made his professional debut with Star Racing Yamaha, carrying the flag for the operation in the 250cc division. The pairing swept the AMA Supercross 250SX West Championship in 2015 and 2016, also collecting the AMA Pro Motocross 250 title in 2016. He parted ways with Yamaha following the 2018 season.
The 27-year-old has spent the majority of his 450cc class career with KTM, winning two titles — 2019, ’21 — with the team.
“I’m super excited to be racing for the Monster Energy Yamaha Star Racing team again. It feels like a family reunion. It’s all the people that I started my career with, and I can’t wait to go racing with them again,” Webb said.
Next year, he will be the third 450 class rider on Star Racing Yamaha’s rider, joining two-time Supercross champion Eli Tomac and rookie Justin Cooper who are both signed for the 2024 season.
