It’s already come time for round nine of the Monster Energy AMA Supercross season and the starting gate is set at Lucas Oil Stadium in Indianapolis.
To no one’s surprise, Honda HRC’s Chase Sexton scored his seventh fast-qualifier award of the season with a 45.215-second lap.
H.E.P. Motorsports’ Ken Roczen qualified in the runner-up position for a second consecutive week. He turned a fast lap of 45.335 seconds on his No. 94 Suzuki. Monster Energy Kawasaki’s Jason Anderson found his flow late in the second session, jumping to third on the leaderboard while TLD/Red Bull/GASGAS rider Justin Barcia filed into fourth.
Points leader and Star Racing Yamaha rider Eli Tomac qualified fifth, nearly half-a-second off of Sexton’s fast time. Red Bull KTM rider Cooper Webb, currently second in points, qualified sixth.
Monster Energy Kawasaki’s Adam Cianciarulo, who is returning to competition this weekend after aggravating a wrist injury two weeks ago in Arlington, Texas, qualified eighth. Notably, Honda HRC’s Colt Nichols will not race this weekend in Indy due to an injury sustained during qualifying last weekend at Daytona Int’l Speedway.
250SX Overall Qualifying Results
Jordon Smith was the fastest qualifier for the first time in his 250SX career during the first qualifying session in Indianapolis, but Hunter Lawrence stole the top spot during the final session of the day.
Lawrence’s 46.060-second lap held strong as the lead time, while Smith slipped into second.
Nate Thrasher qualified third. Chris Blose and Jeremy Martin rounded out the top five.
