Chase Sexton will miss the upcoming round of AMA Pro Motocross due to a concussion he sustained in a crash during midweek testing.
The incident occurred during a multi-team test at Fox Raceway in Pala, Calif., on May 30. The Honda HRC rider suffered a head impact in his fall and immediately sought medical attention, where a concussion was confirmed. He was also diagnosed with mono.
The recently crowned AMA Supercross champion was off to a strong start in the outdoor series, finishing second overall at the opening round at Fox Raceway. Notably, Sexton also crashed during qualifying at Fox Raceway last Saturday and has dealt with a few aches and pains since then.
“I was already pretty banged up from my qualifying crash on Saturday, and now with mono and Tuesday’s concussion on top of it, I want to do the right thing and hopefully be back on the track soon,” Sexton said. “I’m super-bummed to miss this weekend’s race.”
The No. 23 rider will be missing from the lineup at the Hangtown National in Rancho Cordova, Calif., on June 3.
A return date has not been set.
