R.J. Hampshire has extended his contract with Rockstar Energy Husqvarna Factory Racing through 2025.
The 27-year-old will continue his 250cc class career for the next two seasons of the SuperMotocross World Championship, which includes the Monster Energy AMA Supercross and AMA Pro Motocross series. The announcement was made Friday morning.
Since joining the Rockstar Energy Husqvarna roster in 2020, Hampshire has earned three overall motocross wins and a single Supercross victory. He is second in this year’s 250SX West championship, 26 points behind leader Jett Lawrence.
“It’s truly a blessing to have a team that believes in me as much as I believe in myself. We’ve continued to make progress year after year and we all strive to be the best we can be. I look forward to getting the Husqvarna FC 250 back on the top step for years to come,” Hampshire commented.
Despite suffering a severe shoulder injury at round three of the season in late January, which landed him an 11th-place finish, Hampshire has placed second at every race this year.
While the 250SX West division took a break in early March, he also made his premier 450SX class debut at Daytona Int’l Speedway. Along with winning his first heat race, the Rockstar Energy Husqvarna rider finished eighth.
“R.J. is a true professional both on and off the track, and the fact that he has the heart of a warrior is motivating for every person on our team. We are super happy to continue working alongside R.J. for the rest of his impressive 2023 year, as well as the future,” said team manager Nathan Ramsey.
There are three races left on the Supercross calendar for Hampshire, starting with the East/West Showdown at MetLife Stadium in East Rutherford, N.J., on April 22.
