Red Bull KTM rider Marvin Musquin has been sidelined from Monster Energy AMA Supercross indefinitely due to a wrist injury he sustained in January.
The 33-year-old broke the scaphoid bone in his left wrist.
The injury initially took him out of contention prior to the Supercross round at SnapDragon Stadium in San Diego, Calif., on Jan 21. While he was expected to come back at some point this season, upon receiving further evaluation from doctors in his home country of France, Musquin has decided not to rush his return.
It was determined that allowing his wrist to heal naturally was the ideal process, in light of past injuries the Frenchman has experienced.
The Red Bull KTM team confirmed on Wednesday morning that Musquin will sit out until further notice.
“It’s always disappointing to have one of our riders get injured so early on in the season, especially given the caliber of Marvin and the way he was riding coming into the season,” said Ian Harrison, Red Bull KTM’s team manager. “But injuries happen and the last thing we want is for him to rush the healing process and return to racing too soon. We respect his wishes to seek further consultation with his doctors in France and he is now on the path to making a full recovery.”
Musquin finished fourth in the Supercross championship last year.
