“Austin Forkner has suffered a spine and scapula injury from yesterday’s incident in the 250 Eastern Regional Main Event,” the team wrote in a post on Instagram. They added, “Stay tuned for updates on his estimated return to racing.”
This is Forkner’s fourth major injury in four years.
Forkner Suffers Brutal Crash During Arlington 250SX Main
With two minutes to go in the 250SX East main event, Forkner suffered a race-ending crash while leading. After landing awkwardly off a tabletop in the rhythm section, he flew off his No. 64 Kawasaki and landed hard on the concrete surrounding the outer edge of the track.
He spent several minutes on the ground before being helped up by Alpinestars medical crew. Forkner was immediately transported to a nearby hospital, where he was diagnosed with spine and scapula injuries.
Saturday night’s event in Arlington was only the second race of the 250SX East season.
Forkner won the season opener on Feb. 3.
