Phoenix Racing Honda rider Dylan Ferrandis will remain out for round 11 of Monster Energy AMA Supercross at Lumen Field in Seattle, Wash.
This will mark the second consecutive week that the 29-year-old has been sidelined.
The Frenchman shared via Instagram on Thursday that he “got sick after round six and with training and racing every week, it turned to a lung infection. It was not possible to ride the last two weeks, but I feel better now. Still not 100 percent, but getting there slowly.”
The team also confirmed Ferrandis’ current struggles in a public Facebook post, writing, “He (Ferrandis) had bloodwork done and is dealing with an infection in his lung. He is making progress and we will see you guys in St. Louis when he is 100 percent.”
Ferrandis is optimistic that he will be able to return to a normal training routine in the coming week and make a swift return to the races. However, much of the damage has already been done to his season, as the No. 14 rider is ranked 10th in the 450SX standings.
His best finish this season was a fifth-place result at the season opener in Anaheim, Calif.
