After spending five successful season with the team, Cooper Webb has parted ways with Red Bull KTM Factory Racing, effective immediately.
Together, the duo collected two AMA Supercross championships in the 450SX class (2019, 2021), finished on the podium 52 times and earned 21 total victories. Webb also brought Red Bull KTM an overall event victory in AMA Pro Motocross in 2019.
The news comes after an up-and-down year for Webb, who wasa lead contender for the 450SX title early in the season. He captured two main event victories, extending his career win total to 21.
However, with two rounds to go, the 27-year-old suffered a season-ending injury at Nissan Stadium in Nashville, Tenn., and was unable to complete his championship quest.
Following recovery from his concussion, Webb made four starts during the motocross season and finished in the top five at every round. Two of his appearances — at the Hangtown Motocross Classic on June 3 and the Thunder Valley Nationals on June 10 — were third-place results.
“Cooper (Webb) had the option in his contract as to whether he wanted to race outdoors and he decided at Daytona that he would not compete in AMA Pro Motocross in 2023,” said Ian Harrison, Red Bull KTM team manager. “However, following his crash in Nashville, Cooper reached out about racing MX and KTM agreed to support him for the summer. Both sides came into the series somewhat underprepared and a practice crash before RedBud sidelined Cooper once again.
“Both Cooper and the team have decided to part ways, this will give him time to recover and then move on to the next chapter of his racing career.”
