MAGNY-COURS, France – Jonathan Rea put the finishing touches on his fourth World Superbike crown with his 13th victory of the season on Saturday at Circuit de Nevers Magny-Cours.
Rea’s Kawasaki teammate Tom Sykes got the early lead at the start with Rea in hot pursuit. Sykes didn’t stay at the front for long as Rea quickly made his move, dispatching Sykes on the second lap to quickly assume the lead.
Once out front Rea was in his own league, slowly pulling away from Sykes to secure the victory and clinch the World Superbike title in commanding fashion.
Sykes settled for second, more than three seconds off Rea’s pace. Xavi Fores finished third, followed by Lorenzo Salvadori and Chaz Davies.
