Rea Races To Victory In Argentina

ALBARDON, Argentina – Jonathan Rea has already clinched the World Superbike championship, but that hasn’t stopped him from collecting trophies.

The Kawasaki rider collected another trophy on Sunday by racing to his another victory, this time at Circuito San Juan Villicum.

Following his victory in Sunday’s Superpole race, Rea held the lead into the first corner while Saturday’s winner Alvaro Bautista and and Toprak Razgatlioglu battled for second behind him.

Rea soon began to build a gap on Bautista, with the Ducati rider unable to keep the pace set by Rea’s Kawasaki. However Rea soon made a big mistake in turn eight, running off the track and allowing Bautista to take the race lead.

The change at the front turned out to be brief as one lap later on lap eight Rea pushed his way past Bautista in turn seven, regaining the race lead in the process.

That was effectively it for the field, as Rea stretched his lead to an insurmountable five seconds by the time the checkered flag waved.

Behind the leader, the battle was on for second, with Chaz Davies eventually getting by his Ducati teammate Bautista to take the position. Razgatlioglu collected the final podium position in third.

Michael van der Mark was fourth at the line, with Bautista fading all the way to fifth by the time the checkered flag waved.
