MotoGP Delays Homologated Wheels

CATALUNYA, Spain — The Grand Prix Commission met during the Spanish Grand Prix weekend and ruled that the official rim size for the MotoGP class will be increased to 17 inches beginning in 2016.

The move follows the recent announcement that Michelin will become tire supplier for the series. As a result the planned move to homologated wheels next season has been postponed until 2016 in order to coincide with increasing rim size from 16.5 inches to 17 inches.

Thus, competing teams will not have to purchase new rims in consecutive seasons.
