ALCANIZ, Spain – MotoGP World Championship leader Marc Marquez set the fastest time during a pair of free practice sessions Friday afternoon at MotorLand Aragon.
Repsol Honda sensation Marquez was just more than 0.5s off record pace for the MotorLand Aragon track with a 1:48.987 best time, which was .132 of a ssecond better than LCR Honda man Stefan Bradl and .267 of a second faster than teammate Dani Pedrosa’s best effort.
World Champion Jorge Lorenzo had stamped his mark on the free practice one timesheet with the best lap of the morning and improved his time in the afternoon, although his best free practice two time only gave him fourth on the timesheet. Alvaro Bautista had a spill at turn eight which complicated the end of his session, but he still registered a top five lap time.
Monster Yamaha Tech3’s Cal Crutchlow, Yamaha Factory Racing’s Valentino Rossi and Ducati’s Andrea Dovizioso were all in the top ten, which was completed by Power Electronics Aspar’s Aleix Espargaro and Dovizioso’s colleague Nicky Hayden.
