SILVERSTONE, England – Fresh off his first loss of the 2014 MotoGP season, Marc Marquez returned to the top of the charts during practice Friday at the Silverstone Circuit.
Marquez paced both practice sessions Friday at Silverstone, registering the fastest time of the day Friday afternoon at 2:02.126, which was more than half a second faster than anyone else. Stefan Bradl showed his pace with a 2:02.635 to time in second overall, whilst Andrea Dovizioso put in a late best time for third – lapping .885 of a second behind Marquez.
Local rider Bradley Smith looked good in fourth and Yonny Hernandez impressed by making it into the top five. Likewise Scott Redding was well up the timesheet in sixth place. Italian Andrea Iannone and Spanish trio Alvaro Bautista, Dani Pedrosa and Aleix Espargaro rounded out the top 10.
Jorge Lorenzo and Valentino Rossi will aim to improve on Saturday after lapping 11th and 13th respectively, whilst Cal Crutchlow was down in 14th. Lorenzo (+1.374 seconds) and Rossi (+1.826 seconds) were well off the pace of Marquez.
