VALENCIA, Spain – Nicky Hayden and Randy de Puniet led the first two practice sessions for the 2012 MotoGP finale Friday at Circuit Ricardo Tormo.

Conditions changed constantly for MotoGP riders Friday, with the first session run on a mostly wet track. Hayden set the fastest time in the first session, clocking in at 1.44:485.

More than a second behind Hayden’s Ducati in second on the charts was Dani Pedrosa for Repsol Honda. World Champion Jorge Lorenzo was third, another four tenths behind Pedrosa.

In the second session, the drying yet damp conditions had many riders on their toes. Most top teams opted not to set a lap time, allowing De Puniet to clock in the quickest time in the high 1.36s. De Puniet would retire early from the session with mechanical issues.

Second in session two was Italian Michele Pirro, followed closely by Hayden.

Lorenzo, as well as the Repsol Honda Team duo of Pedrosa and Casey Stoner, were among those not to complete a flying lap..
