SILVERSTONE, England – Fresh off his first MotoGP victory, Cal Crutchlow scored a stunning pole in front of his home country fans on Saturday at a soggy Silverstone Circuit.
Crutchlow put his LCR Honda on the pole thanks in large part to the soggy conditions. He scored his first MotoGP victory int he most recent event in the Czech Republic, which was also held in rainy conditions. It is his third career MotoGP pole position.
Valentino Rossi qualified a solid second behind Crutchlow, while the Team Suzuki Ecstar entry of Maverick Vinales took third.
Repsol Honda’s Dani Pedrosa and Marc Marquez qualified fourth and fifth respectively, with Eugene Laverty impressing by advancing from Q1 to take sixth overall.
Scott Redding, Andrea Iannone, Jorge Lorenzo and Andrea Dovizioso completed the top 10.
