BRNO, Czech Republic – Casey Stoner will miss the Czech Republic Motorcycle Grand Prix this weekend to have surgery on his ankle, which he injured last weekend at Indianapolis Motor Speedway.
Stoner will leave the Brno Circuit this evening for Australia after his doctors advised him to have surgery on his damaged ankle to avoid any permanent injury.
He confirmed in a press conference Thursday that he currently has no idea what the recovery time will be once he has had the surgery early next week.
The Repsol Honda team stated that Stoner hopes to be back one or two races before his home race in Phillip Island in late October, yet said that nothing could be confirmed until the surgery has taken place.
Stoner sighted his severe disappointment at the injury, which he believes has ended his championship chances.
