AURORA, Ill. – Feld Motor Sports announced today that two-time Supercross Class Champion Chad Reed will race in the second annual Monster Energy Cup at Las Vegas’ Sam Boyd Stadium on Oct. 20 on his TwoTwo Motorsports Honda.
This will be the first time that Reed will race in the Monster Energy Cup.
Reed’s debut at the Monster Energy Cup will mark his first race back since suffering season ending injuries during the Arlington stop of The Monster Energy, AMA Supercross, an FIM World Championship.
“On race day, it will have been eight-plus months since I have raced,” said Reed. “It’s been a lot of work with rehab, but I’m excited to get back to racing and to have my fitness at 100 percent. If I win a million bucks in Vegas – I mean – you just add it to the collection; it would be better in my bank account than anyone else’s.”
In the 2012 Monster Energy Supercross season, Reed, who came to U.S. from Australia, won the 41st Supercross Class win of his career. In doing so, Reed tied Jeremy McGrath as the only riders to win Supercross Class Main Events in nine seasons. He also picked up four addition podium finishes before suffering injuries that sidelined him for the remainder of season.
Reed has started 148 Supercross Class races and has earned 126 top-five finishes and 119 podium finishes. Following an impressive runner-up finish for the 2011 supercross season, Reed won two races and earned 10 additional podium finishes.
