DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. — Ryan Villopoto won his second consecutive Monster Energy AMA Supercross event Saturday night at Daytona Int’l Speedway.

Villopoto dominated the grueling 20-lap run that took just over 27 minutes to complete to grab his fifth victory of the season and grab the point lead from Davi Millsaps who finished a distant 10th while riding with a knee injury.

Villopoto, riding a Kawasaki, beat KTM rider Ryan Dungey by 5.287 seconds before one of the largest Supercross crowds at the World Center of Speed.

Justin Barcia was third on a Honda with Eli Tomac and Chad Reed rounding out the top five.

Villopoto got the holeshot and led into the first turn, but got off course on the second lap and surrendered the lead to Ken Roczen, while falling to third. However, Villopoto quickly rallied around Barcia and Roczen to regain the lead and ride at ease on the Ricky Carmichael-designed course, while other riders clearly appeared fatigued during the closing laps.

Marvin Musquin rode a KTM to victory in the 250 East event.
