Husqvarna Motorcycles is going Supercross racing.
The Rockstar Energy Husqvarna Factory team will debut for next year’s Monster Energy Supercross season with this year’s 250SX West champion Jason Anderson as the team’s lead rider as the brand returns to supercross and motocross competition for the first time in 14 years.
“This is definitely a very exciting moment and a milestone in the Husqvarna history books,” said Husqvarna Motorcycles Motorsport Director Robert Jonas. “Re-entering Supercross with an outstanding team such as the Rockstar Energy Husqvarna Factory Racing and reigning Supercross champion Jason Anderson are the perfect circumstances for success.”
Anderson is ready to make the step up to the bigger 450 class bikes.
“It’s definitely cool to be a part of bringing the Husqvarna brand back to Pro Supercross,” Anderson said. “I rode the bike before I signed and I really like it so that made my decision pretty easy. I’m excited to be racing it and making my debut in the 450 class on a Husky. We have a good program in place and we know we have the capability to win championships, so I think it’s going to be good.”
Dave Gowland will continue as the Rockstar Energy team manager. The team’s first event with the Husqvarna bikes will be the Monster Energy Cup in October.
