Streaming platforms, such as SPEED SPORT TV, helped bridge the gap for fans who were unable to attend races in 2020.

STREAMING VIDEO

After gaining popularity during recent years, streaming video emerged as a financial lifeline for promoters and sanctioning bodies during the pandemic-plagued season.

The revenue generated by streaming events made it possible for numerous tracks to host racing events despite state and local regulations that either limited the number of fans or prevented them from attending altogether.

With more than 1,000 live broadcasts this year across 50-plus affiliate channels, and syndication around the globe, SPEED SPORT has quickly become the leader in the livestreaming space.

“Launched in mid-2019, the SPEED SPORT Network was already off to a great start when the COVID-19 pandemic struck,” said Joe Tripp, CEO of SPEED SPORT. “The network’s promoter-focused business model, which enables track operators and sanctions to maintain control of broadcast assets while generating additional layers of revenue and marketing, proved to be a vital resource to help race tracks survive during these difficult times.”
