SPEED SPORT CELEBRATES

In August, Turn 3 Media marked the 85th anniversary of the SPEED SPORT brand with a special collector’s edition of SPEED SPORT Magazine.

The 116-page issue included a timeline detailing the evolution of SPEED SPORT from its introduction as National Auto Racing News on Aug. 16, 1934, to its many years as a weekly newspaper known as National Speed Sport News and finally to its 2012 transformation into a monthly magazine.

Several longtime columnists shared their SPEED SPORT experiences, while readers enjoyed a collection of iconic photos and revisited several key moments in racing history through the publication’s archives.

SPEED SPORT Editor-in-Chief Mike Kerchner also looked back at the career of Chris Economaki, who began selling single copies of the newspaper at local race tracks and later guided NSSN as its editor for 60 years.
