Motorsports Artist Garry Hill, 65

MOORESVILLE, N.C. – Garry Hill, an artist known for his work in the motorsports world, was found dead Friday outside of his home. He was 65 years old.

Police and fire fighters were called to his home near Mooresville, N.C., following the report of a fire. They arrived to find Hill’s home engulfed in flames while Hill was discovered near a fire pit in the backyard of his home according to a report by the Mooresville Tribune.

Local officials have scheduled an autopsy to determine Hill’s cause of death.

For more than 30 years Hill worked as an artist in the motorsports world, creating paintings for corporate clients as well as private collectors. He’s produced paintings and program cover art for several motorsports organizations, including Sprint Communications, International Speedway Corp., General Motors, Dover Int’l Speedway, Watkins Glen Int’l and Richmond Raceway, among others.

A service for Hill is scheduled for April 9 at Cavin-Cook Funeral Home, 494 East Plaza Drive, Mooresville, N.C. The visitation will be from 3 p.m. to 4:30 p.m. with the service at 5 p.m.
