RICHWOOD, Ohio — Todd Ridgeway, a longtime contributor to SPEED SPORT, Sprint Car & Midget and other motorsports publications, died June 21 from injuries suffered in a motorcycle accident the previous week.
Ridgeway, who saw his last auto race June 16 at Waynesfield (Ohio) Raceway Park during Cometic Gasket Ohio Sprint Speedweek, was 56 years old.
He was born Aug. 2, 1964 to R. Duke Ridgeway and Judy (Shamblin) O’Hara, and is survived by his mom. Ridgeway was a 1982 graduate of Elgin High School.Â
A huge sports enthusiast, Ridgeway also loved bull riding, fishing and hunting. But his passion was for short-track auto racing. He was a well-known photographer and reporter, covering events at various tracks around Ohio and neighboring states.
He also loved taking photographs and reporting on North Union football.
Surviving along with Ridgeway’s mom are his son, Matthew Ridgeway; sister Jane (James) Walter; and a nephew, Mason Sokolowski.
Funeral services will be held June 28 at 11 a.m. at the Stofcheck-Ballinger Funeral Home in Richwood.
