Goodguys Founder Meadors Dies At 75

PLEASANTON, Calif. – Gary Meadors, the founder and chairman of Goodguys Rod and Custom Ass’n, passed away Sunday at his home in Arizona. He was 75.

Meadors, a Dinuba, Calif. native, founded Goodguys – the nation’s largest association for street hot rods, custom cars and show cars – in 1983 after having spent years developing a passion for hot rods.

Under Meadors’ leadership, Goodguys grew from a lone show in Pleasanton, Calif. to a 24-show schedule.

For his contributions to the hot rod community, Meadors was inducted into the Street Rod Marketing Alliance Hall of Fame in 1998, and received the Hot Rod Industry Alliance Lifetime Achievement award at SEMA in 2004.
