BAKERSFIELD, Calf. — Four members of the West Coast Stock Car/Motorsports Hall of Fame have been named to another prestigious group – the American Car Culture Association California Racing Hall of Fame.
The honorees – Ken Clapp, the Hunt Family, Bill McAnally and Scott Pruett – were feted in February 22 ceremonies at the California Auto Museum in Sacramento. Drag racing star Gary Ormsby was also named to the California Auto Racing Hall of Fame.
Clapp is the chairman and CEO, as well as the co-founder, 25 years ago, of the West Coast Stock Car/Motorsports Hall of Fame. He is a former promoter of a dozen West Coast race tracks and special events as well as the retired NASCAR Senior Vice President of Marketing Development.
Three generations of the Hunt family – Joe, Tommy and Tony – have made significant and lasting contributions to the racing industry – as innovator, sanctioning body official and a United States Auto Club multi-national champion.
McAnally, a former NASCAR competitor, is the winningest owner in NASCAR ARCA Menards Series West and co-owner of McAnally-Hilgemenn Racing in the NASCAR Camping World Truck Series.
Pruett won road racing championship in the International Motor Sports Association, Sports Car Club of America Trans-Am Series and the Grand-American Series, as well as such international events as the Rolex Daytona 24.
“I’m gratified with this induction and would like to thank Tim Newey especially, along with his committee to join the Hunts, Bill McAnally, my old friend Scott Pruett along with Gary Ormsby,” said Clapp. “It came as a great surprise and one I will never forget.”
