Maserati Ghibli Coming To Saratoga Springs


SARATOGA SPRINGS, N.Y. – The highly-anticipated 2014 Maserati Ghibli, which had its worldwide debut in April at the Shanghai Motor Show, will be unveiled at the Saratoga Wine & Food Festival and Concours D’Elegance on Saturday at Saratoga Performing Arts Center (SPAC).

Presented by Wide World Ferrari Maserati of Spring Valley, NY, the Ghibli will be among the featured cars on display at the festival’s luxury auto show organized and presented by the Saratoga Automobile Museum as SPAC’s event partner. Other notable cars featured at the festival will include a limited edition 2003 Aston Martin originally owned by Eric Clapton and a rare 2010 Morgan Aero Super Sport, a hand-built British automobile capable of reaching 60 mph in 4 seconds.

The “Ghibli” will have its Northeastern U.S. debut at Saturday’s Grand Tasting and Concours D’Elegance at SPAC. With a name that translates to “Mediterranean wind” in Italian, the Ghibli was first introduced by Maserati in 1967 as a two-door coupe and spider model; it was produced for seven years. After a 20-year absence, its second debut in 1992 was a coupe that was in production for five years. The new 2014 Ghibli has been completely redesigned into a much larger and more powerful sports sedan.

Other featured cars of the auto show include:

– 2003 Aston Martin DB7 Zagato Originally Owned by Eric Clapton – A limited edition of only 99 cars, this model’s original owner was rock star Eric Clapton. Featuring a modified version Aston Martin famed 6.0 liter v12 engine and producing 435 horsepower, this supercar is capable of speeds in excess of 190 mph.

– 2010 Morgan Aero Super Sport – One of only 200 cars produced by this historic British car manufacturer where the cars are still manufactured by hand, this car is powered by a 4.8 liter BMW V-8 engine with 362 horsepower. Rarely seen in the US, this car is capable of reaching 60 mph in about 4 seconds.

– 1957 Porsche 356A Peking-To-Paris Rally Car — This vintage Porsche was one of the participants in the 2013 Peking-to-Paris Rally. The longest and toughest challenge anyone can drive in a vintage or classic car, the rally traverses 7,500 miles of deserts, mountains, gravel and dirt roads, through China, Mongolia, Russia, Ukraine, Switzerland and France.

– Concours D’Elegance Featuring Shelby Cobras – The featured marquee of this year’s Concours D’Elegance is the Shelby Cobra; several of the Northeast’s best examples of the collector car will be on display. Joining the Cobras on the lawn will be invited classes of Ferraris, Alfa Romeo, Porsche, Lancia, Maserati, Ferrari, Lamborghini, Fiat-Abarth and more. Cars will be judged by Pebble Beach marquee auto specialists in categories including Alumni Award, Chairman’s Award, Most Elegant Open and Most Elegent Closed, among others. Winners will receive sterling silver bowls courtesy of exclusive sponsor Frank Adams Jewelers; first in show receives a Formula-1 Tag Heuer Edition Watch.
