This marks the 10th season for TKS Motorsports. Comprised of Troy and Tammy Renfro and their daughters, Katelyn and Sydney, the team has hit its stride this season with driver Chase Randall.
There have been big changes since the inception of TKS Motorsports in 2015, but the core of the family team and the commitment of Don and Charlene Lamberti (founders of Casey’s) as partners has never wavered.
“We’ve gone from a little two-car garage at home to a shop in Ankeny,” said Tammy Renfro. “The most important part to us is it is a family team. Our daughters are still involved, and even the guys we hire to help us are family. That’s how we try to keep it. That crew becomes the boys I never had.”
Even though the Renfro twins, Katelyn and Sydney, are now adults, they are still an integral part of the family race team.
“Katelyn is able to come quite a bit, and her boyfriend (Cory Harden) now works on the car, so he helps us when we can,” Tammy Renfro said. “Syd has moved to Sioux Falls and is living with Kaleb (Johnson) so we still get to see her at a lot of our races as well. We are lucky with the two guys our girls found. They are good kids.”
