We don’t know if John Force is going to return to the cockpit of the PEAK Chevrolet Camaro Funny Car following his violent June 23 crash at Virginia Motorsports Park.
Even Force might not know right now if he’s ever going to come back.
The drag racing legend was diagnosed with a traumatic brain injury from that accident, and he hasn’t spoken with the media or the public since.
Jack Beckman, his substitute driver for the remainder of the season, said he spoke with Force in early August and that Force reassured him he had no pressure to perform in the upcoming events.
But we simply don’t have all the facts.
Years ago, Beckman said, “Don’t ever count John Force out.”
And in 2008, Force proved no one should do that, returning to action less than four months after a devastating accident at the Texas Motorplex. While hospitalized in Dallas with multiple broken bones, doctors speculated that Force might not walk again, let alone drive a race car.
We don’t know if Force’s doctors have many any predictions during his current recuperation.
