INSIDER: Terry Shepherd Rules Ohio Speedweek Run

ATTICA, Ohio — “It was the most exciting win of my career,” Terry Shepherd exclaimed after topping The Club All Star Sprint Speedweek feature at Attica Raceway Park. “We went from being real slow (In the heat) to being real fast.”

Shepherd then credited crew chief Gary “Deuce” Turrill for his Schnee’s winning setup. “We felt real uncomfortable in the B main, so I went to the trailer and let Deuce set the car up, he said.

The victory made Shepherd the fourth winner in four Speedweek events. He was aboard Dee Chapman’s Schnee with a Gaerte engine under the hood and McCreary tires on each corner.

The last lap was a real barnbumer as Jack Hewitt made a furious high-groove charge at Shepherd, almost nipping him at the finish line.

Hewitt had started fourth and ran the high groove all night, while Shepherd ran the bottom and middle of the track.
