MOORESVILLE, N.C. — On a recent trip to Bubba Pollard’s Senoia (Ga.) Raceway to call the American Flat Track Series races, I took a detour to check out Atlanta Motorsports Park.
Located northwest of Dawsonville, Ga., this motorsports country club offers a variety of track configurations, anchored by a two-mile, 16-turn circuit designed by renowned race track architect Hermann Tilke.
Elements of the various layouts are designed to challenge automotive enthusiasts whose driving skills range from go-kart rookie to those who race sports cars at both the amateur and professional levels.
Of course, being a private club there are condos and garages available for members looking to store their four-wheel collectibles at Atlanta Motorsports Park. Dining options and pro shops offering all types of driving gear are also part of the complex.
I was able to go for a couple of rides around the different circuits and the elevation changes instantly caught my attention. Tilke definitely worked his magic on the topography of Atlanta Motorsports Park.
