INSIDER: Logan Seavey — Staying Busy

Every athlete dreams of being in the zone. It is the magical time when everything is in synch and one can seemingly do no wrong.

It is a feeling that may last for a single contest, or if one is lucky it extends over the course of several days. It comes as little surprise that racers can enter this state given how important the mental game is to the sport.

Logan Seavey, a 27-year-old racer from Sutter, Calif., knows all about this. After all, it seems like he has had the deed to victory lane for the past year and a half.

Joining forces with Kevin Swindell and his East Coast counterpart Tim Bertrand, Seavey won the 2023 Chili Bowl Nationals and proceeded to post one of the best years in USAC history.

In the Silver Crown ranks, he finally replaced perennial champion Kody Swanson on the top step on the podium. In the national midget division, he claimed his second USAC championship and the first for Abacus Racing. These important results only tell a fraction of the story. In August, he raced to victory in the Silver Crown ranks at the Springfield Mile and then traveled east to top that night’s midget main at Macon Speedway.

Then, on a remarkable September evening, Seavey swept the USAC portion of the 4-Crown Nationals.

It seemed obvious that this glorious ride would come to an end. Yet, it didn’t. In January, Seavey won the Chili Bowl again, and since then has shown no sign of slowing.

By the end of July, he looked in position to set the all-time USAC sprint car single-season win record. Everybody was paying attention. When you have an air of invincibility about you, others want a part of the action.

Seavey, who already had a crowded schedule with USAC activities alone, had a chance to pile even more on his plate.
