INSIDER: Kerchner — You Can’t Control The Weather

CONCORD, N.C. — Let’s make this perfectly clear: Kyle Larson didn’t let anyone down on Memorial Day weekend.

No matter how much planning goes into any outdoor event, the weather is always the one element no one can control.

Typical spring thunderstorms on Sunday, May 26, wreaked havoc with Larson’s efforts to complete The Double as he attempted to win the Indianapolis 500 and the Coca-Cola 600 in the same day.

Despite announcing his intentions more than a year ahead of time and having all of his i’s dotted and his t’s crossed, weather won the day.

Rain swept across Indianapolis Motor Speedway shortly before the 500’s scheduled start time and as the track drying process dragged on, officials from Arrow McLaren, which fielded Larson’s Indy car, and Hendrick Motorsports were forced to exhaust just about every back-up option.
