INSIDER: Glory Days — Swindells Crash & Kinser Wins

First-place was definitely not the place to be during the first 22 laps of the June 12, 1994 World of Outlaws feature at Ohio’s Millstream Speedway — especially if your last name was Swindell. 

Jeff Swindell and Sammy Swindell took turns leading the event, but both crashed while leading and Steve Kinser picked up the pieces for the $5,200 victory.

J. Swindell started the 30-lap main event outside the front row and snared the lead from Dave Blaney at the start. 

Following a caution period-for Tim Clark’s second-corner spin and a red period-for Todd Heller’s turn-two flip and Greg Hodnett’s backstraightaway tumble, Kinser passed S. Swindell and Jac Haudenschild for third with a daring, inside move in turn three on the ensuing restart. 

After Jack Hewitt spun to a stop in turn three early in the fourth lap, Blaney challenged Jeff for the lead, only to be turned away. The leaders entered lapped traffic four laps later.
