INSIDER: Connor Zilisch Is On The Fast Track

Connor Zilisch, a former kart racing prodigy, is anxiously awaiting his 18th birthday when he’ll be able to compete on NASCAR’s full complement of race tracks.

“I want to be able to race on the big tracks in NASCAR and start learning as soon as I can,” Zilisch told SPEED SPORT. “It’s frustrating that I have to wait so long, but that’s part of it.”

As his big day approaches in mid-July, Zilisch has been honing his skills in a wide variety of racing series on both ovals and road courses. Here’s a sampling of what he’s accomplished so far year:

Signed a multi-year developmental contract with Trackhouse Racing; won the LMP2 class during the Rolex 24 At Daytona; notched an ARCA Menards Series victory at Dover Motor Speedway; earned the pole and finished fourth in his NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series debut at Circuit of The Americas; claimed the LMP2 class victory during the Mobil 1 Twelve Hours of Sebring; topped the Trans-Am TA2 race at Sebring; and scored a CARS Tour late model stock victory at legendary Hickory Motor Speedway.

And, don’t forget, he graduated from high school.
