DELAFIELD, Wis. — Armed with crucial experience gained through four starts to cap the 2023 schedule, 20-year-old Indian-American Yuven Sundaramoorthy will contest a full season in the Indy NXT by Firestone next season with Abel Motorsports.
Sundaramoorthy completed a majority of the 2023 USF Pro Championships season in the USF Pro 2000 program before making the step up to Indy NXT with Abel Motorsports to finish off his year, competing in four races over three events at Nashville, Portland, and WeatherTech Raceway Laguna Seca.
The University of Wisconsin engineering student was impressive, scoring two top-10 results. Yuven and the Abel Motorsports crew immediately clicked when they joined forces at the Music City Grand Prix in Nashville, so it was a natural fit to continue together next season.
“I’m extremely happy to have signed with Abel Motorsports for the 2024 Indy NXT season,” enthused Sundaramoorthy. “I had an amazing experience running the last couple of Indy NXT races with them to cap off my 2023 season and I have a ton of confidence in the crew that we can create some solid results together next season. This wouldn’t be possible without my family, sponsors, and partners, so thank you to them.”
Sundaramoorthy is the only Indian-American driver to win on the IndyCar ladder system, having scored victories in the USF2000 championship at tracks including the Indianapolis Motor Speedway and Barber Motorsports Park.
“We are extremely excited that Yuven (Sundaramoorthy) is going to be back with ABEL Motorsports for the 2024 Indy NXT season and getting to build on what we learned together in 2023,” offered Bill Abel, owner of Abel Motorsports. “You know, Yuven joined us towards the end of last season for a few races to get his feet wet in the series, and the poise and talent he showed spoke volumes for what he can bring to our team, so we can’t wait to see what he can do in 2024.”
